Motives of France
- The French delegation was led by Georges Clemenceau (otherwise known as 'the walrus') during and after WWI
- France wanted to cripple Germany politically, economically and militarily so they wouldn't be able to cause another war of such great magnitude.
- Wanted to punish the Germans by setting severe reparations*
*reparations: compensation exacted from a defeated nation by the victors
