Industrialization, Five-Year Plans 1928-1941
- A series of plans designed over five years to increase industry and output
- Based on quota system (to be completed each month)
- Economic planning was now enforced
- Command Economy (set targets for production)
- First/most significant was collectivization (agriculture changes): 1928-1933
- Had to produce enough food for everyone working
- Main focus was on heavy industry
- Second was 1933-1937, too severe and changed in 1934
- Very unreasonable, people were unable to make that volume of goods in their lifetime
- Set high intending to motivate the workers
- Many party officials revolted against and nominated a successor to Stalin
- Stalin had them shot (Beginning of the Great Purges)
