Henry Ford, Assembly Lines and the Model 'T'
- Model 'T' was a huge breakthrough
- Begins selling in 1915 for $440
- By 1925 a record 9109 cars are made a day (lowest price is $290)
- Supply and demand
- Henry Ford wanted "a car in every garage"
- 15 million made by 1927
- This meant more gas stations, roads, parking, mechanics, etc.
- People can live further from where they work
- Most of the manufacturing is done in Detroit "motor city"
- Output increases because of the introduction of the assembly line process (everyone has a very specific job, can be produced very quickly)
