Abdication of the Tsar
- Revolution took place February/March of 1917
- World War I still going on
- people don't have enough food and are angry
- revolution began with riots and strikes in Petrograd (St. Petersburg)
- drove out the tsar
- replaced temporarily with provisional government (led by Georgy Lvov)
- Lvov replaced by Alexander Kerensky
- Tried to keep Russia in the war (citizens did not want to)
- the first time in modern Russia that the peasants had risen up together for a better good
Summary
Many Russian citizens were unhappy that they didn't have enough money for food because it was all being used to fund the war. This resulted in the abdication of the tsar, instead a Provisional Government was instigated.
